Event: London Fashion Week SS15

Last Saturday I popped down to London to experience Fashion Week for the second time. Last season, I went down for the whole weekend however, I've just started a new job and can't book any time off at the moment so I couldn't do that this time around. Most of my invites were for Friday and Tuesday but I also had a few for Saturday so decided to go along just for the day.

I went along to the Aspinal of London event at House of Fraser on Oxford Street. Here, we got to chat to Ella Gregory from Coco's Tea Party and TV presenter Laura Jackson. We had a look at the new Aspinal of London collection and got a fab goody bag with a gorgeous heart keyring in. There were some really stylish people there and I felt a bit frumpy in what I was wearing (a gingham skater dress and peach coat) but it was a great event.

We then headed over to Somerset House and the Anatomy Museum where we saw Hemyca's digital presentation. This was really different to all of the other shows I'd previously attended. There was a room with videos projected onto the walls and then models above us on the balconies showcasing the collection. I loved each outfit, they were all so wearable which is unusual for LFW. We also managed to catch some sort of show/presentation going on outside Somerset House, although I haven't been able to find out who the designer was!

I then decided not to go to any of the other shows I had invites for (mostly Fashion Scout) as I was with my friend Jess and rarely get to see her. Instead, we went over to Covent Garden for a delicious pizza in Fire and Stone and then did a spot of shopping. Once Jess had caught the bus back to her flat, I went over to the Tower of London to see the beautiful display of poppies.

Next season, I'll definitely be booking the time off work again so I can do the whole weekend. It's great to go down and just see what everyone is wearing!

LFW A/W14: Ones To Watch

I'm slowly getting all of my LFW posts up now. I seem to have recovered from the plague apart from this pesky cough I've got so I'm catching up.

On the Friday of London Fashion Week, I headed to Freemasons Hall to watch the 'Ones To Watch' show. This was the show I was most looking forward to and unfortunately I think everyone else was too! There were so many people crammed in there, I think I ended up whacking Alice on the head a couple of times while I was trying to take photos, sorry!

Apart from being hot, sweaty and cramped it was a fantastic show. My favourite collections were from Carrie-Ann Stein with her androgynous shapes and graphic prints and George Styler who has created some very colourful and heavily embellished pieces which are not appropriate for everyday wear but are definitely breathtaking. I especially love his mix of prints and textures as you can see in my last photo. The whole collection reminded me of Ancient Egyptian pharaohs. I think George is definitely one to look out for at future Fashion Weeks. I can't not mention the amazing pointed headwear and gorgeous knitwear in Hiroko Nakajima's collection.

LFW A/W14: Street Style

On the second day of London Fashion Week, I did what every sensible fashion blogger must do while they're around Somerset House - take some street style photos. Unfortunately, when we got there, the heavens opened and most people took shelter inside or around the entrance but I still managed to get loads of photos. It took me a while to pick out my favourite ones for this blog post. As you can see, I'm loving the monochrome look and the pops of electric blue and yellow. Also, how amazing does Law look in her pink, furry ensemble?

Sorry it's taken me so long to get the rest of my LFW posts up, since I got back from London I've had some horrendous cold/virus/plague thing so when I haven't been at work I've been in bed feeling sorry for myself. I'll pull my socks up next week and sort my to do list out though.

LFW A/W14: Fyodor Golan and Nokia

On Friday, I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the world's first piece of interactive clothing. Designed by Nokia and fashion designers Fyodor Golan. This technologically advanced skirt is made entirely out of Nokia Lumia phones (there's 80 of them worth £68,000!) and uses an app which mimics the way that fabric would fall on a normal skirt around a moving body. The skirt was modelled by the gorgeous Chloe Norgaard on a small runway before the actual Fyodor Golan show took place. We arrived at the show on a rickshaw courtesy of Three and got to enjoy a glass of bubbly while we marvelled at the skirt.

Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman are the men behind the name and after studying in different countries, both met in London where they decided to launch the label Fyodor Golan. I was so pleased to end up on the front row and managed to get some great photos of the show, it was so hard to choose which ones to post. My favourite pieces were the amazing glittery suit, the long pink coat and also the whole outfit that Chloe Norgaard was wearing during the show. I loved all of the pink, it's one of my favourite colours and to see people dressed head to toe in it was great and so inspiring.

Outfit: LFW Day Two

Jumper: eBay, available here
Trousers: Select, available here
Coat: New Look, available here
Shoes: Topshop, available here
Scarf: Primark
Bag: Primark
Hat: H&M

Today wasn't as eventful as yesterday was but we still had a good time. I even got to see my good friend Jess who lives down here now and we went to a lovely place called Dishoom for a delicious Indian lunch and a cocktail. I highly recommend it!

We started off the morning in Marylebone at the Aspinal of London breakfast which was in association with Glamour. Then we headed to Somerset house to take some street style snaps and our own outfit photos. Unfortunately we chose the only twenty minutes of the day where it rained but I'm glad the photos turned out okay.

I picked the trousers up in Westfield yesterday. Select isn't somewhere I'd usually go but the window displays caught my eye and I went in for a browse. I love them and I think I can get away with wearing them for work too. Everyone has the shoes from Topshop but they're so comfortable and also kept my feet dry in the bit of rain that we had. I also got the bag from Westfield and it's a bit of a Zara dupe, I'll probably dedicate a post to it soon.

Outfit: LFW Day One

Jumper: H&M
Skirt: New Look
Shirt: New Look
Coat: New Look, available here
Hat: H&M, available here
Necklace: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Dr Martens, available here

Today was Day One of London Fashion Week and I'm down here in the capotal city until Sunday to attend a few shows, soak up the atmosphere and eat a lot of good food. We arrived yesterday afternoon and are staying in a gorgeous apartment in Stratford, just a stones throw away from Westfield, it's great!

Today I attended three shows; Fyodor Goylan, Ones To Watch and Ong Oaj Pairam. They were all brilliant but Ong Oaj Pairam was definitely my favourite. We also got a ride in a rickshaw to the Fyodor Goylan show. After the shows we went back to Stratford for a Nandos for our first meal of the day - we've been so busy we didn't have a chance to eat! Now me and Chloe are sat in bed in our apartment blogging.

I decided to wear quite a casual monochrome outfit today. It wasn't quite warm enough and I forgot my umbrella so I got a bit wet. I picked up the jumper from H&M in Westfield yesterday and I love it, it was such a bargain (especially with cheeky staff discount) and I'll be wearing this a lot. The shoes were actually off eBay and cost just £34 for brand new Dr Martens! I can't believe my luck. I think they will go with a lot of outfits and they're so comfortable too.

Now I need to get on with editing the rest of the photos from today (I took over 700) and there should be a post up in the morning.
