Event: Goodman's Photography Workshop

Last week I was invited along to a Photography Workshop in Birmingham which had been organised by Goodman and Joe Blogs Blogger Network.
It was an early start for a Sunday morning, which meant we had a chance to start snapping away before town got too busy. We started off at the infamous Floozy in the Jacuzzi where Simon, who was running the workshop gave us some tips on how to hold our DSLRs properly and we took some practice shots of the Council House before moving on to the new library.
The library was an interesting one to shoot as its a very modern building sandwiched between older (and much prettier) buildings. To be honest, I think it's a bit of an eyesore and I really don't like it. However, I managed to capture it using the manual mode on my camera - something I'd shied away from in the past.

We then went for lunch at Jamie's Italian which I wasn't a fan of - what sort of Italian doesn't do pizza? Afterwards, we headed over to the outside of Selfridges to take photos of it's spaceship exterior. I really like the iconic Selfridges building, it's a whole lot better than the library at least.
I had a great day, despite leaving early as I still had some birthday presents to get for the next day. I learnt how to shoot in manual and took some great photos of my city.

There's no business like snow business

It's been snowing here in the Midlands pretty much non-stop since Thursday afternoon. It's finally stopped now though and I'm hoping it soon starts to melt so everything can get back to normal. It's so pretty to look at though, don't you agree? All of these photos were taken outside my house/in my back garden. I was very impressed with the snowman that was made by my neighbours; they used shells for teeth, very creative!
