Beauty: Birchbox July 2014

It's been ages since I had a subscription box, I cancelled my Glossybox two years ago so it was about time I signed up for a new one. I love the idea of having a box of samples delivered once a month, it's a great way to try out new products and you often get to try things that you'd never even think about buying for yourself. I decided to sign up to Birchbox as there was an offer on for new subscribers where you could get a mini Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner and They're Real mascara. Unfortunately, I wasn't at all impressed with the eyeliner, I'm not sure if it's because of the packaging of the sample size but I just couldn't get it to work for me. Luckily, They're Real is my daily mascara so I'm glad to have another sample of that.
As I was late to the Birchbox party, I had already seen a lot of blog posts on July's box so I knew what to expect. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised with what I got as each box is individual.

Number 4 Jour d'Automne Non Aerosol Hair Spray, available here
I don't ever use hairspray so I wasn't too excited about finding this in my box, however I'm sure I can get some use out of it. I could do with something to keep my fringe in place and hopefully this will be easier to use than an aerosol which I find usually dispense way too much product.
Benefit Porefessional primer, available here
I've lost count of the amount of samples of this primer that I've had over the years. It really doesn't suit my skin and I break out really bad whenever I use it so I will be passing this on to Amy who I know adores it.
Laqa & Co. Cosmetics Sheer Lip Lube, available here
I love a good lip crayon so I was excited to find out which shade I was going to get in the box. Luckily for me, I got the purple which as you probably already know, is my favourite colour for a lip product. I've found that this is a lot like the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains in texture and scent, the colour leans more pink on my lips but I love it. I'll definitely be getting a lot of use out of this.
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream, available here
This is another product that I've tried before but I LOVE this one. I adore all Balance Me products and this one is my favourite, it's such a great eye cream and I find that it helps to make me look a bit more awake in the mornings. It's definitely one that I will be purchasing once my sample size runs out especially as I'm approaching 25 so it's time to start worrying about the dreaded wrinkles.
Whish Three Whishes Lavender Body Butter, available here
I wasn't sure about this body butter at first as I'm not really a fan of lavender scents,  however the scent does't stay around long which pleased me when I tried it out. It works well as a body butter, it's very moisturising and I like to use it on my arms before I go to bed.

Chia Shots, available here
The lifestyle bonus that I got in this box was a packet of chia shots. Chia seeds are something I try to incorporate into my diet as often as I can because of the huge nutritional benefits, so I was pleased to see these. They're quite expensive to buy and this little sample will probably last me three days. I like to out a tablespoon of seeds into a bowl of yoghurt or mix them into scrambled eggs.
Although this box had a couple of misses as well as hits, I'm looking forward to trying out the next one. If you want to sign up yourself, you can do so by clicking here.

  1. There's quite a nice little selection in these boxes and I like that they include a bonus lifestyle sample too. Looking forward to seeing what you get next month :)

  2. I like the idea of these boxes but I'm afraid I'd either hate everything in it or like it so much I'd want the full size version ... Being a mummy of two I often can't afford higher end products. Do you know if there are any budget beauty boxes? xx
