I love a good competition and when I heard about Hillarys Blinds' Blind of The Month competition, I just had to enter it. The idea is to create your perfect summer bedroom based around the blind of the month which is the Mono Midnight which you can see in the centre of the collage above. In the summer, you want a room that is calm, not too cluttered and light in colour to help keep you as cool as possible. When you look at the collage, imagine all of the items in a room with white walls and no mess.
For my bedroom I chose to keep it simple by using monochrome with a pop of yellow to give a really summery feel. Along with the Mono Midnight blind which is of course monochrome, I've also chosen yellow curtains to brighten up what would be white walls. Both the curtains and the blinds have a blackout lining so they completely block out the light which is just what you want in the summer when the sun is rising at 5am. The carpet I have chosen is also from Hillarys Blinds and is an off white colour, and also keeping to the monochrome theme. I didn't want to choose anything too light as I'm prone to spilling things on the floor. I've chosen IKEA's famous Alex desk because as well as being a gorgeous stark white, it's a great size and those drawers would really come in handy. To accessorise the room, I've picked a bright yellow clock which is also from IKEA and a monochrome and yellow canvas print from Tesco. I've then chosen a monochrome and yellow bedding set from Tesco which really brings it all together I think.
So there we have it, my perfect summer room. I now really want to redecorate my room based on this, the colour scheme is one that I definitely wouldn't get sick of any time soon. Just thinking about this room makes me feel happy and summery! If you want to enter the competition, you can find all the information you need here.
