Autumn/Winter Survival Guide

It's getting dark by 4pm, there's frost on the ground when I wake up in the morning and there's only 31 days until Christmas - it's nearly winter! I thought I'd put together an Autumn/Winter survival guide so I can show you what products I rely on when it's cold and miserable outside.

It's so important to dress right when it's this cold, there's nothing worse than seeing people wearing flimsy jackets and not much else during the winter. The other day, I saw someone walking around in flip flops - it was raining and 2 degrees outside! After working in outdoors shops for years, I've come to realise the importance of having a good coat. It's more important to be warm and dry than to look fashionable. The best kind of coat to go for is a 3 in 1, which means it's a waterproof outer shell with a detachable warm layer (usually a fleece) so you can wear both pieces together or separately and you're ready for all weathers. It's also a good idea to layer up, so I've included this gorgeous checked cardigan and the fair isle hat. I'm rarely without a hat in the winter! Decent footwear is also a must in the colder months, especially when the snow comes. I couldn't live without my Dr Martens, they're so comfortable and have a really good grip so I always wear them in the snow.

Beauty-wise, I find that I suffer with really dry skin in the winter but it's my lips that suffer the most. I use my Lush lip scrub regularly to get rid of any dry, flaky skin on my lips and then apply a thick layer of lip balm before bed. I also slick a bit on during the day before I apply my lipstick.

What are your Autumn/Winter essentials?

  2. I'm the same, a good lip scrub and balm are essential! I have the Lush bubblegum scrub but would worry the santa one would stain my lips bright red! Haha :) it's so cute and festive though
