YSL Rouge Volupté #17 Red Muse - £23.50 available here

"An object of desire, this award-winning lipstick is wrapped in a romantic, elegant gold case that exudes luxury. Each signature shade saturates lips in captivating color that’s intensely pigmented, and imparts an irresistible glossy shine. The long-lasting, comforting formula is highlighted with a unique Color-shine Complex that leaves lips visibly smoother, plumper and more radiant. Light, silky texture smoothes on a veil of satiny, sensual color that’s altogether alluring. SPF 15."

After wanting to try a YSL lipstick for YEARS, I finally bit the bullet and headed over to Boots on my lunch break last week and swapped 2350 of my Boots Points for this gorgeous gold tube. I'd been wanting a nice, classic red lipstick too so I thought why not go for a high end lipstick which will probably be a lot better quality and stick around a lot longer than the high street alternatives. The sales assistant at the YSL counter spent a good ten minutes with me applying two different types of lipstick, but in the end I chose this one over the matte red I was also looking at purely for the packaging. There's no doubt about it, the packaging on the Rouge Volupté lipsticks is the most luxurious you can get.

#17 Red Muse is a gorgeous blue toned vibrant red, which is great for making your teeth appear whiter. It's also one of those shades that will suit a lot of different skin tones and is more of a classic red than the other orange based reds that I was looking at. I think it looks great with my pale skin tone and red hair. I've been wearing it a lot over Christmas as it's the perfect festive red.

The lipstick glides on beautifully and feels so moisturising on my lips, a lot like a balm. I've found that after a while it dries to an almost matte finish and lasts a good 4 -5 hours as long as I don't eat anything too greasy. Once the lipstick has worn off, it does leave a stain on the lips but it does need topping up. I found that this lasts a lot better with a red lip liner underneath.

I'm so happy with this lipstick and will definitely be purchasing more. Next on my wishlist is one of the glossy stains though. Have you tried any YSL lipsticks? What is your favourite red lipstick?
