February 2012 Glossybox

My Glossybox was waiting for me when I got home from work  yesterday, but I wasn't expecting much as I'd seen disappointing tweets beforehand. Honestly, this box isn't brilliant but overall the products are worth more than the £12.95 I've paid and you can't expect to be blown away by every box. It's all about trying new things and you're not going to like every single product you get, unless you're really easily pleased. There's a couple of things in the box that I will get some use out of, and some I won't but I'll find them good homes anyway. There was a couple of leaflets in the box this month, one about London Fashion Weekend and another about a mystery glossybox? I'm not really sure what that's all about but apparently we'll find out on the 24th.

Dr Bronner Magic Liquid Soap - This was the only full size product in the box but it only costs £1.99 anyway. It's apparently got 18 uses, including as a shower gel, shampoo, deodourant, toothpaste and a general household cleaner. I'm not sure how I feel about cleaning my teeth with something I can also use to clean the toilet but it's nice to have the option to use it in so many ways. The one I got is peppermint scented which is nice but it's also a bit too strong and overpowering. I'll definitely get a lot of use out of this though.

BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow - I'm not very impressed with this product.. the colour I got is a khaki green but when I tried to swatch it, it wasn't very pigmented. I'm not sure how it would look with a primer but maybe that will help the colour? I got 1g of product (2g is full size) so this is worth £3.50. As I said, I'll give this another go with a primer but if it's not very good I'll probably just throw it away.

Paul Mitchell Round Trip - This is a product for curly hair, which I don't have so I won't be able to review it. Luckily, my mom has curly hair so I'll be sending it to her and hopefully she'll like it. I was a bit disappointed as I've been wanting to try Paul Mitchell products for a while. At least my mom an get some use out of it anyway.

Duwop Venom Gloss - This was another one I wasn't impressed with, purely because I don't like lipgloss. It's pretty sticky but very sheer. It leaves a nice sparkle on the lips but I just don't like the texture or the tingly feeling it gives you. It has a very overpowering smell too, it reminds me of cinnamon but I'm not sure that it's just that.. it might be minty as well? I only tried this by squirting a bit on my (clean) finger, so if anyone wants to have this, let me know and I'll post it out to you.

Como Shambhala Invigorate Body Lotion - Another body lotion! I really don't need anymore, I have a cupboard full but I really like the smell of this. It has a blend of essential oils in it and has a nice refreshing scent. I can especially smell the geranium and the peppermint. It left my skin feeling really soft too. I wouldn't purchase it again as  the full size is £20 but it's nice to try it out.

  1. I'm so glad I unsubbed from glossybox, that body lotion was in one of the early boxes, cheeky! x

  2. I wasn't too impressed with Glossybox this month either. I feel like the total worth of the box was a lower than is usually is and i wish they'd start making the boxes more specific to your beauty profile!

  3. Hmm I'm not sold on beauty boxes either really for the reasons people say above - plus I bet half of the things they give away are freebies you could get direct from the supplier. Sucks a bit as well that you can't use the hair stuff!

  4. The Liquid Soap's a nice concept, but like you said I'm sure how I feel about cleaning my teeth with the same thing that I clean my toilet with =/
