Travel: The Perfect European Getaway This Winter
Quintessentially Lifestyle is a concierge and luxury lifestyle management company. Their team of experts have put together a guide to the perfect Christmas getaway, for any of you thinking of jetting off for a short break this Winter and Amsterdam is somewhere I really want to visit, so it's given me some great ideas.
Amsterdam, the capital city and most populous of the Netherlands, is diving into celebrating the holiday season. From the festive Christmas trees to the exquisite Christmas markets, you will feel yourself spreading that Christmas cheer and indulging in some festive luxuries.
Where To Stay
Hotel De L’Europe
This 19th century hotel is one of Amsterdam’s most popular located at the point where the Amstel River flows into the city’s canal. The hotel is a unique combination of a modern comfort with an aged style that was just recently classically renovated. This peaceful and comfortable hotel will be the perfect place to stay during the holidays.
Where To Eat
Nevy
Owned by Bert van der Leden, Nevy is a modern fish restaurant that overlooks the water. It is located on the IJ on the Westerdoksdijk and explores all tastes of the sea with unique fish dishes from all over the world. In addition you can go and explore the food markets that are present during the holiday season which will put you in the Christmas spirit.
Where To Shop
During this holiday season you can stroll through the festive Christmas markets located at both Ledseplein and Koningsplein. The markets feature an ice rink and food stands that run up until January. After seeing the Christmas markets you can explore the different flower, food and design markets that Amsterdam has to offer. The stalls sell vintage and artisan goods along with big, small, and quirky Christmas trees.
Health and Beauty Wellness
Amrath Hotel Amsterdam
Guests can enjoy a massage, facial, hand and foot care, and unique special care specifically for men’s skin. The hotel also features saunas, Turkish baths, a whirlpool, swimming pool, and relaxation area. There is also a fitness room that offers beauty treatments and massages for those interested in a pampering session.
Nightlife
Odeon
Odeon is a basement with a kitchen, a cocktail bar, and a club that is located in the centre of Amsterdam’s canals. Odeon offers space for meetings, presentations, weddings, private dinners, and cocktail parties. The thought of walking along the canals, through the Christmas markets with the smell of mulled wine lingering in the crisp air is sure to make us want to hop on a plane right away!
